My word of momentum is…

Are you going to Get Momentum? Once every 8 months or so, we host the Ojai Leadership Institute in, well…Ojai, of course!

(Click here for information on the upcoming Retreat…)

For three days, you surround yourself by and with leaders - Get Momentum members - from all over the country (and world!) who choose to come together to discuss some of the most important topics to their work, their life, their community…what do they get in return for spending that much time, and that much money to come to this event? Press play and listen to what past participants say…

Resilience, the upcoming Town Hall meeting

Using your own definition of the word resilience…
Has it been important to “be resilient” in life or at work lately?

During this month’s Town Hall meeting, you’ll have the chance to learn how to improve your resiliency, in life and at work. Learn what the worlds’ best do to bounce back after things go wrong…

Do you have Holy curiosity?

I was told once that I had “insatiable” curiosity. I must have been 12 or 13 years old, and I was at church on a Sunday. I remember when we got home that afternoon, I went to my room and took the dictionary off the shelf. I opened up my bible (shhh…I used to write in my books even way back then!) and though I had spelled it wrong, I eventually found out what insatiable means… “(of an appetite or desire) impossible to satisfy.”

Speaking of holy curiosity…

…have you ever read a biography of Albert Einstein?

While researching the monthly theme for GET MOMENTUM members - the Town Hall is coming up in just a couple of days - I came across this quote by Mr. Einstein:

Don’t think about why you question, simply don’t stop questioning. Don’t worry about what you can’t answer, and don’t try to explain what you can’t know. Curiosity is its own reason. Aren’t you in awe when you contemplate the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure behind reality? And this is the miracle of the human mind—to use its constructions, concepts, and formulas as tools to explain what man sees, feels and touches. Try to comprehend a little more each day.

Have holy curiosity.

I’m not sure exactly what “holy curiosity” would look sound and feel like. Let’s gather around on our Town Hall this month and explore this topic.

A short thank you to those who attended the GET MOMENTUM Leadership Retreat

About a month ago, we let you know that as a member of GET MOMENTUM you were invited to come to Ojai, CA for 2 and a half days for our Leadership Retreat. So, here’s my thanks to you!

Momentum: the impetus gained by a moving object.

Consider the way you’re looking at the world, now that you’ve attended the GET MOMENTUM Leadership Retreat. Use each tactic when it’s appropriate. Some things you may want to consider as you prepare for that next discussion, take on that next task, move in to planning a new project:

+ Ideal Day: Always let yourself write out 200-400 words to describe one of these.

+ Team You: Identify that list of 4-7 people who you can turn to for help and advice.

+ Decompress: Stop, at least once a week (members click here) and think about the past few days…

Leaving Ojai, we sure hope you hold on to a few memories from this GET MOMENTUM Leadership Retreat…

Do you have the TOOLS you need…?

Tools…Systems…Gear…Technology. When it’s time to get important work done, you know you need to have the right tools, surround yourself by the right people, and ensure that the right things are getting done.

Make Sure You Have the Right Gear

I made this short video to express my gratitude to a good friend of mine who wrote an amazing book that I read a while back called “The Change Function.” (Go, get a copy!) Over the years that we’ve had the chance to talk, push on each other, and dream about the future, I’ve learned how to think about change in new and bigger ways. Thanks, Pip, for everything you do!

Your “Most Important Things”

When you’re ready for a Leadership Workshop you attend on your own, print the Priority Management PDF below.

Do you make the MOST important things important?

If you hold yourself accountable to be productive, you need to work as effectively and as efficiently as possible. Don’t just hope you’re working the right way; get a professional opinion. And then, if it’s serious enough, get a SECOND opinion. Your work, your life, your contribution…It’s that important!

Click on the GET MOMENTUM logo below, and print the workshop you see there. My promise, in less than 8 minutes, going through those three steps, you will gain a whole new level of control over one of your Most Important Things. Are you ready to Work Smarter? Think Bigger? Make More?

When it’s time to think through your plan for the day, what is it that you do to ensure that your Most Important Things get done? No matter what time of the day it is right now, make the next moment count.
